North Coastal Art Gallery - Carlsbad - Oceanside Art League 2022

Cheryl Ehlers Announced as President of the 
North Coastal Art Gallery managed by the Carlsbad-Oceanside Art League. She is tasked with bringing the gallery back into the lime light after the delay of COVID and overcoming damage to the gallery that left it closed for two months. The Board and artists worked hard to bring the gallery back up to speed and now we are all looking to moving forward with fresh ideas and additional opportunities for our artists. Cheryl is is working closely with SIMA Management in the Carlsbad Village Faire to heighten the exposure of the art in the center by bring more events to engage the public. Programming in in the works for Art Faires, Demonstrations, Artist Sales and possible banner projects to the center.

Ehlers is a Carlsbad resident of over 37 years, and previous retired from the City of Encinitas as the Assistant Arts Administrator. We look forward to tapping into her vast knowledge of working with non-profits, event coordination, artist advocacy and resourcing. Presently she is involved in several communities and works closely with many diverse non-profits encompassing the Arts, Cultural Arts and Veteran groups.

Cheryl’s firm belief in giving back is rooted in her own family history, her aunts were fearlessly outspoken civil right activists, and overcame the cultural barriers of the day, and through their influences she learned to understand the importance of using her talents to make a difference in lives of those around her. Her volunteer support is vast and so are her logistical commitments.

Besides being an award winning and well published artist, Cheryl formed The Stardust Arts, which broke ground in 2009 and has since instructed over 14,500 undeserved students. She is recognized by the State Assembly of California and the San Diego Board of Supervisors for her commitments to art in local cities.

As a volunteer, she currently serves as a President and Director on several non-profit organizations; San Dieguito Art Guild, Director; Carlsbad-Oceanside Art League; President; the Encinitas Friends of the Arts, Director; serving the cultural arts, The Stardust Arts, Founder, youth art education, and the Veterans Ceremony-Union Grove Cemetery Inc., which honors all US veterans.

Assists and supports the North County African Women's Association; Jazzercise Inc. as an advocate for community artists to exhibit and provide a funding stream for leasing their artwork; the Yellowpageartist, a platform for artists to present their listings worldwide, and a newsletter -the Artbuzz1, free to artists filled with local community opportunities. She paints for the United Nations (UNESCO), Paris, FR; Gator on the Bay, LA; TICA, internationally; Cure for Cancer, Maui, HI; the Ocean Agency, CA.;

Cheryl believes in the power of positive thinking and inspiration. “It not what you give, it is the satisfaction that you helped another human being, in some small way that counts.
